SpamBots on the Loose!

This morning I woke up to see that I had 33 possible spam messages waiting in my queue to be viewed.  Guess what, all 33 of them were in fact spam messages.  It was really only a matter of time before the SpamBots showed up to my blog.  I’m actually surprised it took this long.  Either way, thanks to WordPress’s awesome security measures, I was able to avoid any damage being done to my blog, which makes me extremely happy!  If you posted a real comment and I mistook it for spam, I’m really sorry!  It becomes difficult to tell real from fake, so I may have accidently deleted your post.  If that was the case, please feel free to post it again and I’ll happily let it through.

Either way, just wanted to share that random bit of information.  I hope to get an on-topic post up soon.  I’ve been very busy getting myself prepared for the semester to start, so I’ve been a bit preoccupied, which I’m sure a lot of you can understand.  Thank you for reading and please continue to do so!

  1. It can burn you out to try so sort out the spam, I’d commiserate with you on that. However, I myself got to deal with it when I was flying with wordpress. And I got askimet with wordpress. So yeah, I got more than 100 spam messages. Never expected to get them on my lj too.

    • Yeah, the askimet has been working hard today. I had gone so long without getting any spam, it really was only a matter of time. I’m glad to have such a great system to keep them off the actual blog comments though. It’s just a pain trying to figure out which are fake and which may be real.

      • It’s indeed a hassle, I mean, try to sort out wich one is spam, which one isn’t. As askimet isn’t that accurate sometimes and can be way off-mark. By the way, your blog gives us really interesting infos about your private life and stuff, so yeah, I’ll stay tuned for new articles.

        • Oh yeah, it’s certainly a pain trying to figure out when the askimet is correct and when it’s wrong. I’ve been going, more so, off of the e-mail addresses and what they link to through their usernames, so I hope I’m getting the right ones and haven’t accidentally deleted genuine comments. And thanks for reading, Naiwen, I very much appreciate it. :)
