Familial Ramblings Returns!

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, my hiatus has lasted much longer than just a couple of weeks. I can honestly say that I’m not sure how much longer my hiatus will last, but hopefully things will get back to normal within the next couple of weeks. Curious to know what’s been going on? Click the lovely “continue reading” button and find out!

There’s a lot more going on than I’m probably going to post here, but I wanted to give you a reason as to my disappearance. There are three main “things” that are keeping me from posting on Familial Ramblings like I used to and those are: Work, school and family drama. I won’t go into a lot of details on the family drama, but I will let you know the basics when we come to it.

As far as work goes, many of you know that I’m a graduate assistant at my school. Things there have been very hectic since the beginning of the school year and things have not let up. We’ve been getting daily assignments that take up much of the work day and on top of it, there’s some work-related drama as well.

Essentially they want to change a system that, really, only needed some tweaking. The other GA and I have some strong feelings about this and these changes have been making work very stressful as of late. We’ve been working hard though and getting everything accomplished that needs to be done. It’s just a lot more than usual and we often get assignments that need to be done TODAY, rather than giving us time to work on them and get them done, so it’s a bit of a pain in the butt and leaves me little to no time to work on posts, which is something I did during my downtime last semester.

Moving onto school, to be frank, it’s kicking my butt. I technically have four classes currently; I say technically because one’s an independent study. Each class has been requiring a lot of my attention and work, so it’s been pretty time consuming. Plus on top of that, I’ve been trying to figure out my schedule for next semester and get everything ready for my practicum, which I will be starting in January.

The good news is that my Monday class only has one more day and then after I only have to write two papers and take a test. So that will be some relief that and I should have more time to do things that I enjoy such as writing for Familial Ramblings and spending time with my family without feeling guilty about it because I should be doing something else.

Finally, family drama. No, it’s not my immediate family, but rather other family members. I’m not going to go into details about this because it’s a really sticky situation right now and I really don’t want to cause even more problems. Maybe once everything is over and done with I’ll go into a long winded explanation, if you guys really want to know that is.

That pretty much sums it all up though. I’ve been busy, as you can clearly see and something somewhere had to give. Unfortunately it was Familial Ramblings. My hope is that I will be back in full swing within the next couple of weeks.

For those of you who have stuck with me, thank you so much for being patient with me. You’ll never know how much I really appreciate it!

    • Thanks, Sharon! Things have sort of settled down, but really not a significant amount. I just needed to get back to blogging as it certainly helps relieve stress and get away from life for a while.

  1. Oh the stresses of life. I can just imagine how you feel at times. Blogging does take a lot of time and effort alongside work and family, but as long as you got the priorities in place all will be well.

I hope that you do manage to sort out all your problems and I look forward to popping back here when I can to have a good read of your posts. (managed to get through at last) :)

    • I’m glad that you were able to get through! I know you said you were having another issue, so I’m just waiting for some more info on that so hopefully I can get that fixed up.

I hope that my priorities are straight, haha. Blogging helps release stress and tension, so it’s certainly nice to be back to doing it again.

  2. Nice to see you back. Always a shame when peoples lives get in the way and it normally stresses yourself out more than anyone else. Anyway, welcome back and can not wait to start reading your articles again :)

    • Thanks, dojo! Haha, I hope I can be entertaining. I wrote up a post last night that was flat, so I’m hoping to come up with something better for you guys today.

  3. I could really relate to it, as some family members behave much the same way as yours. They’d make some drama away & etc… so yeah, really hate the sometimes… D: So sorry to hear it, but I hear ya on it or this point. Sorry to hear about ya school’s schedule bein turned upside down eh? Mine’s too because of school’s gettin on strike & the semester bein prolongued… & etc, so yeah, lots of stuff going on too.

    • I’m not 100% sure as to what you’re saying here as it’s a bit disjointed, but life happens and we have to roll with the punches. I don’t think my family drama is the same or similar to yours just going off of some of the comments you’ve left here. Either way, thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the posts to come. :)

        • What I’m referring to is much different from what you’re describing. But as I said in the post, I’m not going to be discussing that until things have been settled, if I decide to talk about it in detail at all, that is.

    • Thanks, Snobo! It was fine when I was just dealing with family stuff, but then school and work came into the picture. Hopefully things will slow down with one of my classes ending soon so I’ll have more time on my hands.
