Aurora ‘Dark Knight’ Shooting

If you’ve been following me on Twitter or Facebook, you’re probably aware that last night I attended the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.  Normally when I discuss movies, I discuss what happened in the movie and how it relates to family and/or relationships; however, that’s not what I want to discuss today.  A few moments ago I came across an article detailing the horrific events that happened in Aurora, Colorado at another midnight showing of the movie.  Apparently, approximately 20 to 30 minutes into the movie, a lone gunman—after setting off some sort canister of gas—began randomly shoot people within the theater.  At this time, they are saying that there are twelve dead and at least 50 injured.  The suspect, James Holmes, has been arrested and taken into custody.

My heart goes out to the families that have lost someone in this horrible shooting and I hope that those with injuries are okay.  It’s never easy to hear stories like this and I think this one in particular really hit me because I was watching the same movie and this could have happened in my theater.  It’s interesting though because last night I actually had a thought last night while watching the movie of “what if someone were to come in here with a gun and started shooting?”—especially when there was a gentleman walking around who didn’t seem like he was on the up and up.  I don’t know, it just rattles my cages a bit.

It still surprises me that people could do things like this.  That they could hurt presumably innocent people without a second thought.  But one has to remember, at times like these, that there are good people out there and that we have to stick together in times of crises.  Stay safe readers.

My heart and prayers go out to those who have lost someone in this tragic event and to those who have been injured.

  2. I read it on Chat-Addicts too, twas so sad to hear & also reminded me of the Dawson College’s shooting… makes me sad to hear this kinda things happening or taking place.

  3. This is definitely sad. I can’t even begin to comprehend how someone can choose to shoot so many people. I hope Colorado as the death penalty in their state – this guy is a prime candidate for it.

    • I honestly don’t think it’s going to matter if they have the death penalty or not because apparently he killed a child, which is (from what I know) frowned upon even in prisons. So I’m not sure if he’d actually make it to the exaction date if they have it. It’s still very sad and I really want to know what, if anything, provoked him to do what he did.
