Disclaimer: I got a free ticket to Broadway Now & Forever through being a Central PA Blogger. All opinions are my own.
Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved to since. I suppose that isn’t that much different from most girls, but my love of singing lead to me joining the school choir at a young age and sticking with it all the way through high school. My love of music evolved and one of my favorite genres of music quickly became Broadway musicals. On August 2nd, I met up with the Central PA Bloggers that I first met in June. This month, we were invited to the American Music Theater to view their production of Broadway Now and Forever.
Previously I had gone to the theater to watch their Christmas Show, but I had never seen this particular production. Needless to say, I was excited! I have seen a few musicals in my day and know many of the songs by heart. But before the show even begun my husband and I had the opportunity to partake in a wine and chocolate tasting. To be completely honest with you, I’m not a wine drinker and I don’t think I ever will be. I tried the wines, but they weren’t to my taste, which wasn’t a surprise, but my husband tells me that for someone who enjoys wine, they were very good. Chocolates on the other hand, those I like.
The chocolates were provided by Miesse Candies and they were absolutely delicious! There was one candy in particular that I still remember, a caramel candy with salt. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. The theater also provided some very delicious horderves. After indulging in the tasty snacks and just before the show began, the other Central PA Bloggers and I went on a mini-tour of the building to learn more about its history. You can learn more about the American Music Theater by visiting their website.
After the tour, we took our seats and the show soon began. The show consisted of 40 songs from 17 Broadway shows including: Wicked, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, and Les Misérables. I haven’t seen all of the shows that were in this show, but I can certainly tell you that watching this production made me want to head to New York and catch as many shows as I can. The cast—made up of both male and female members, ranging in ages—did an amazing job. The children, I have to admit, stole the show for me. It amazed me how much talent they had and how committed they were to their roles.
Broadway Now and Forever presented by The American Music Theater was an amazing show. I cannot wait to go see it again, which I will certainly be doing in the near future. I have already recommended this show to many of my friends and family, but I also recommend it to you! If you have the time and you’re in the area, make plans to check it out, you won’t regret it!
Have you ever been to a Broadway Musical? If you have, which was your favorite show and why?
