For those of you who don’t know me that well or may even just be getting to know me, I’m someone who will bend over backwards just to help someone—especially if it’s a friend or family member.  I’ve helped numerous people with a variety of different things, but one thing I more often find myself helping others with is their forums, blogs and/or websites.  When I help, I don’t ask for much, if anything, but I do look to at least be appreciated and listened to when I give my thoughts and opinions.  Apparently, to some people that’s just too much to ask and in some situations you find yourself with someone who you thought was a friend that actually sees you as nothing more than a “good employee.”

Have you ever just wanted to have a break from everything?  Sit back, relax, read your favorite book or catch up on your favorite television shows.  Being able to be around your family all the time is fantastic, but sometimes you just need some time to sleepykittyyourself.  I would actually recommend that you take time for yourself every now and I say this because the last thing you want to do is burnout.

darkshadowsThe movie Dark Shadows starring Johnny Depp was recently released in theaters.  Considering I’m obsessed with movies and have always been a huge fan of Johnny Depp, I, of course, had to go see it.  I thought it was a great movie with a lot of laughs that I would recommend others to go see.  There was a very interesting concept used within the movie, which is what I wanted to concentrate on for this post and that’s the concept that blood is thicker than water. mothersday

I wanted to take a moment to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mommies out there!

Today’s the day that we celebrate mothers and all that they’ve done for us throughout the years of our lives.  Instead of writing a post about how wonderful I think my mother is—which would be a very long post in the end—I want to pass the opportunity to all of you to tell me and other readers what makes your mother special.  What has your mother done for you and how will you repay her for doing everything she’s done.  Remember, you don’t have to talk about your birth mother.  This can be an adoptive or foster mother, an aunt, grandmother, or someone who’s simply taken on that motherly role in your life.  Share your positive thoughts, feelings and stories about your mother or the mother figure in your life.  Don’t forget to let us know what you’re doing for your mom on her special day!

Previously I made a post about using a new commenting system called Disqus.  I originally installed it in hopes that it would make commenting easier, when in actuality, it seemed to make commenting more difficult for some; furthermore, I had to put a lot of trust in the company for hosting all of the lovely comments I get.  However because of some recent technical issues I’ve been seemingly having due to using Disqus—comments getting eaten and not showing up being my main issue—I’ve decided to uninstall the plugin.  So, here on Familial Ramblings, we are again using WordPress’ default commenting system.  What does this mean?  You have to fill out two to three lines when you leave a comment, not a huge sacrifice in my opinion; at least you know your comments won’t get eaten.  Now, I can hear you asking me what is this “CommentLuv” I speak of in the title and I’m glad you asked!commentluv Continue reading “Say “Goodbye” to Disqus and “Hello” to CommentLuv!” »
